Patna: A youth was shot dead by an armed assailant, merely 500 metres away from Ramkrishna police station area in the state capital on Tuesday. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and admitted the victim to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to the bullet injuries.The deceased, identified as Kundan Kumar (30) from Nawada, resided in a rented accommodation in Jakkanpur area and worked in a private firm. He was riding his motorcycle towards Chagad More when the assailant attacked him.The CCTV footage, spanning 2 minutes 47 seconds, shows an armed assailant wearing a helmet pursuing Kundan Kumar to Chagad More lane, while the victim was trying to escape. The youth collapsed near a boundary, and the perpetrator fired three bullets at his chest. The assailant then proceeded to kick Kundan after the shooting. Several passers-by witnessed the incident without coming to his rescue. The armed perpetrator subsequently left the scene on foot, openly brandishing his weapon.City SP (East) K Ramdas arrived at the crime spot with his team and started an investigation. “Investigations are being conducted along with the FSL teams and a dog squad. Police are examining footage from surrounding CCTV cameras to identify the accused,” he said.The police sent the body to NMCH for the postmortem. Three empty bullet casings were recovered from the spot.
