Chennai: A 19-year-old youth was hacked to death and his body dumped near a bush at Thiruvalangadu in Tiruvallur district on Friday morning.
Police, who were alerted by villagers, identified the slain man as Lokesh and said the body was found with multiple lacerations on the head, hands, and legs. Tiruvallur district superintendent of police Srinivasa Perumal and Tiruttani DSP Kandan visited the crime scene and conducted preliminary investigations. Police also collected fingerprints. Lokesh of Poondi village visited his grandmother’s house in Narthavada near Tiruvallur and went missing on Thursday night.
Police suspect the murder was committed by a group of as yet unidentified people under the influence of ganja, as Lokesh had run-ins with a few youths in the area over this issue. The body was sent to Tiruvallur govt hospital for a post-mortem examination, and police launched a hunt for the suspects. They are also checking the call record details of the victim.
