Youth held with heroin worth Rs 2.5 lakh | Bhubaneswar News

Rourkela: A 21-year-old youth from West Bengal was arrested for possessing and trafficking heroin worth around Rs 2.5 lakh near Bisra Chowk bus stop on Saturday. The accused, Sk Zakir from Kharagpur, was caught with 16.27 grams of heroin and a mobile phone during night patrolling by police. Acting on a tip-off, sub-inspector T Samal and his team intercepted him on Friday night. Police suspect he intended to sell the drugs to local residents, including school and college students. “We have arrested the youth and seized the contraband. Further investigation is underway to uncover potential links to drug trafficking networks,” said inspector in-charge, Plant Site police station B K Pradhan. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
