Women Demand Road Repair By Planting Paddy | Bhubaneswar News


Rourkela: Upset over poor condition of road in their area, women of remote Girjatoli basti in Sundargarh district planted paddy saplings on the path in an apparent attempt to prove the mud is fit for cultivation, three days ago. The matter came to light on Friday and the sarpanch of Kadobahal assured the road will be made motorable soon.
Road from Ambadanda square to Girjatoli and from Girjatoli to Bilaigarh is replete with potholes with knee-high mud.Children find it difficult to go to school and even an ambulance cannot reach Girjatoli basti forcing people to carry patients in cots.
“Though we have been asking different officials for a proper motorable road, action has not been taken yet,” said Etwa Kujur, a villager.
Sarpanch Lucia Mamta Kindo said, “The road will be made motorable with panchayat funds.”
