Berhampur: A 63-year-old woman allegedly tried to set herself ablaze near the Berhampur SP’s office due to a family disputeon Monday. She was arrested on the same day.The woman arrived at the SP’s office with kerosene and poured it on her sari. When the police at the gate inquired, she said she wanted to end her life.As she was causing disturbance and did not cooperate, she was taken to Baidyanathpur police station for inquiry, police said.The inquiry revealed she was deserted by her husband in 1995. Later, her father gifted her a house at Lanjipalli. When she claimed the house, her brothers objected. She believed that by threatening to end her life, the authorities would somehow settle her problem and give her the house, police said. As she could not be convinced despite efforts, she was arrested, the police added.
