<p>A woman in Hyderabad was arrested for killing her 13-day-old daughter, fearing she could not care for the child due to her husband’s severe illness and dialysis treatments<br></p>

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police on Thursday arrested a woman for allegedly killing her 13-day-old daughter at Mailardevpally. The accused Arogya Vijji (30) was reportedly worried about her ailing husband and feared she would not be able to care for their child in the future.
Vijji’s husband, Mudalai Mani, is suffering from kidney failure and undergoing dialysis. Concerned about their future, she killed the infant, believing she would not be able to look after her as she grew up, police said.
On 25 March, after Mani left for work, Vijji called him, claiming their child had been found in a bucket full of water. He rushed home and took the baby to the hospital, but she was declared dead.
Initially, police registered a case of suspicious death and launched an investigation. Based on the post-mortem report and other evidence, Vijji was taken in for questioning, during which she confessed to the crime.
The couple, originally from Tamil Nadu, had migrated to the city for work and were residing in Katedan, Mailardevpally. They were employed in a small industry in the Katedan industrial area.
She was sent to judicial custody, a police official from Mailardevpally police station confirmed.
