Woman falls after bike hits car door, gets run over by bus
Bengaluru: A 47-year-old homemaker was killed after she fell off the pillion of her brother’s scooter ,which hit a parked car’s door that was flung open carelessly and came under the wheels of a BMTC bus on Mysuru Road around 9.45pm Saturday.
The deceased — Saroja (42), a resident of Kamakshipalya — was returning home from a wedding reception of a relative in Jnanabharathi. Chandru, 50, her elder brother who was riding the scooter, escaped with minor injuries.
The two were near Pantarapalya on Mysuru Road, when the driver of the car parked on the roadside, opened the door abruptly without noticing vehicles coming from behind.
Chandru hit the car’s door, causing him and Saroja to fall on the road along with the scooter. At that moment, a BMTC bus was behind them. Saroja came under the wheels of the bus. She was taken to Victoria Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Byatarayanapura traffic police visited the spot and seized both the car and bus. The BMTC bus driver was arrested, and the car driver is yet to be traced. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem.
