Balasore: A 25-year-old woman allegedly ended her life by consuming pesticide after an argument with her husband over Rs 20 in Gobarghati village in Balasore district on Friday, police said. The deceased has been identified as Rinki Mandal.
According to reports, the couple frequently argued. On Thursday evening, they engaged in another dispute when Rinki asked her husband, Jagan Mandal, for Rs 20 to buy something from a shop. The argument escalated, and shortly afterwards, she allegedly consumed pesticide. She was later found in a critical condition and was rushed to Basta hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead.
The woman’s family members have alleged she was killed by her husband. Based on their complaint, the police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Jagan has been detained for questioning and an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to his wife’s death.
