Chennai: A woman died while her son and sister were injured after the scooter they were riding collided head-on with a speeding truck near Periyapalayam on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Priyanka, 31, from Andhra Pradesh.
Police said Priyanka had taken her son, Gurusai, for his summer holidays to her sister Sasirekha’s home in Periyapalayam last week. On Sunday, the three were returning after visiting a relative when their scooter collided head-on with a truck near Kumarapettai. In the accident, Priyanka and Gurusai sustained serious injuries, while Sasirekha escaped with only minor injuries.
Passers-by rushed to their aid and alerted the police. Priyanka was pronounced dead at the scene, while Gurusai is currently receiving treatment at the Ponneri govt hospital. Police are looking for the truck driver involved in the incident.
