Mumbai: An accident on the Parel flyover late on Monday claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman and left her fiance injured. The incident occurred around 7.45 pm as the recently engaged couple was returning home on a scooter.
While the couple was riding their scooter, an unknown heavy vehicle struck them. The impact caused the scooter to tumble, and the woman was pinned under the vehicle’s wheels, resulting in her immediate death.
The fiance, though he managed to escape, sustained injuries and is currently in hospital receiving treatment. The accident caused significant disruption on the north side of the flyover, leading to a near shutdown of traffic for about an hour.
The woman’s body was taken to KEM Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police are scrutinising CCTV footage to identify the unknown heavy vehicle involved in the accident. According to an officer at the scene, there is currently no clear account of how the accident unfolded.
The fiance, who is in a state of shock, is unable to provide further details about the incident.
