Woman critically injured in axe attack by husband | Bhubaneswar News

Rourkela: A 40-year-old woman was critically injured after her husband allegedly attacked her with an axe following a domestic dispute at Saplata village under Gurundia police limits in Sundargarh district’s Bonai sub-division on Wednesday night.
The victim, Taniara Khadia, was initially rushed to Gurundia CHC by neighbours in the early hours of Thursday. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), where she is currently undergoing treatment.
According to police sources, the accused, Patras Khadia (45), attacked his wife with an axe during a heated argument. The suspect has fled the scene and remains at large. “We have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused,” said IIC, Gurundia police station, Rameswar Singh. “Once we receive the formal complaint, legal action will be initiated,” he added.
Police officials have obtained the medico-legal certificate from Gurundia CHC and visited the crime scene. However, no FIR has been registered yet in connection with the incident.
