Within 3 hrs, police rescue Dombivli builder’s kidnapped 7-year-old child

Kalyan: Within three hours of being informed of the kidnapping of a builder’s seven-year-old son in Dombivli, police on Friday solved the case and arrested the child’s school autorickshaw driver for the crime along with his associate. Two minor children were also detained in the case.
Police sources said six teams, with the help of technical evidence and call detail records, rescued the child safely from Shahapur, about 40km away, within three hours of being informed of the kidnapping. They found the child with the autorickshaw driver. The two minors were caught some distance away.
Police reunited the rescued child, Kaivalya Bhoir, with his relieved and grateful parents. Mahesh told TOI: “We are really happy with the swift police action. They safely rescued my son after we approached them.”
According to the police, the boy’s father, Mahesh Bhoir, is a builder who resides with his family at Regency Anantam Complex in Dombivli. Police said like every other day, on Friday, Kaivalya left for school at 7:30am in the now arrested accused, Viren Patil’s autorickshaw, but both did not reach his school.
Later, his father received a call from Patil saying he himself had been kidnapped along with Kaivalya. Subsequently, Mahesh received another call from a different number and the callers demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore for releasing the child. They also threatened the family that if they contacted the police, their son would not be returned to them.
Bhoir, though, immediately reported the matter to the local Manpada police. Upon receiving information about the case, DCP Atul Zende and ACP Suhas Hemade formed a total of six teams under the leadership of senior police inspector Vijay Kadbane of Manpada police station to crack the case.
They interrogated Patil based on initial suspicion and discovered that he, along with four other accused, had planned the kidnapping.
Zende said, “In this connection, our police team along with Patil have arrested Sanjay Madhavi (his associate) and detained two minors while a hunt is on for one more accused involved in the kidnapping.”
Police found that Patil, with the help of others, had planned the kidnapping as an easy way to make money. Patil made up a false story of his kidnapping too, but during interrogation, police suspected his role, and when they grilled him, he confessed to his crime.
