Kalyan: Deputy CM Eknath Shinde has reiterated that the Ladki Bahin scheme—credited with helping Mahayuti win the assembly election last year with a massive mandate—will not be scrapped.“Our govt will fulfil all promises that we made about this scheme, step by step,” he said while inaugurating a waste management and city cleaning project for Kalyan-Dombivli. In the run-up to the assembly election, Mahayuti had promised that the dole would be increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100.Shinde said the tech-enabled waste management project will help the twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivli become the cleanest in the country.He also inaugurated a garden built by KDMC on 3 acres in Titwala, where 3,500 trees have been planted, and oversaw the distribution of housekeys to those rehabilitated from land acquired for expansion of Kalyan ring road and tracks between Kalyan and Badlapur. The bhoomipujan of a Rs 197-crore skill development centre at MIDC, Dombivli, was conducted. The centre will train around 7,000 students every year in advanced programmes, including AI, robotics science and drones.
