Water Project: K’pada villagers deprived of water as storm damages overhead tank | Bhubaneswar News

Kendrapada: As people in different parts of the state grapple with different diseases, including jaundice, those living in tribal-dominated Kolathapada village in Jajpur district’s Danagadi block do not have access to safe drinking water after the overhead tank of a water project was damaged in a storm on May 22.
The drinking water project was built in November 2023 by the rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS) department at Kolathapada village and around 2,200 villagers are dependent on it.“We have moved RWSS officials many times to install another water tank to us but in vain,” alleged Ramachandra Munda, a villager. Upon contact, Rasmita Nath, assistant engineer of RWSS department, Danagadi block said, “We will install an overhead water tank at Kolathapada of 3,000 litre capacity to provide water to villagers.”
