Warned to keep off woman, youth kills her father in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 24-year-old youth hacked a 60-year-old man to death in a timber yard in Kumaraswamy Layout, south Bengaluru. The deceased had warned the accused not to go near his daughter and harass her.
The deceased is Shaik Afsal and the accused, Suryaprakash. Afsal was working in his elder brother’s timber yard on Outer Ring Road in Kumaraswamy Layout; Suryaprakash also worked in the yard for more than a year.
Citing primary investigation, police said Afsal’s 32-year-old daughter is a single parent of two children. Suryaprakash, who stays in the same locality, started meeting her regularly and speaking to her over the phone.
Afsal learnt Suryaprakash — an alcoholic — was forcing his daughter to marry him and warned him a few times in the last three months. On Wednesday, around 8am, they got into an argument over the issue and in a fit of rage, a drunk Suryaprakash took a machete from the yard and killed Afsal, police said.
