Two hurt in clash

Patna: Two persons were injured in a violent clash that erupted between two groups over placing of a flag at a village market in Goraul police station area of Vaishali district on Thursday.
The injured were discharged after first aid at a hospital, said Vaishali district magistrate (DM) Yashpal Meena, adding no one was arrested so far.
Upon receiving information about the violent clash, police arrived at the scene in Sonho village and managed to calm the situation, even as the district administration deployed a large force in the area.
Vaishali DM Meena said the situation is under control. “Footage from nearby closed-circuit television cameras and other videos of the incident are being scanned to identify the miscreants involved in the ruckus. The Vaishali superintendent of police has been directed to identify the culprits and take action against them.”
Mahua sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Surabh Suman said that some villagers tried to put up a flag in the marketplace, even as there was no Tazia procession on the day. “Some other villagers from a different group came to stop them, which escalated into a clash between them,” she said.
