Vijay takes credit for Supreme Court’s order on Waqf Amendment Act | Chennai News – The Times of India

CHENNAI: Taking credit for the Supreme Court order refraining the Centre from acting upon the key provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay said TVK would always stand with the minorities and marginalised.
“We are deeply grateful to the Supreme Court of India for its order today on our petition against the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025. The Union govt is refrained from acting upon the key provisions of the bill that are unconstitutional, be it inclusion of non-Muslims in the Central Waqf Council and waqf boards which would mean interfering with the administration of a religious denomination and provisions on denotifying properties including waqf by user,’’ Vijay posted on X.
He thanked Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi for arguing on behalf of the TVK against “unconstitutional fascist measures of the Union govt.’’
In another tweet, Vijay said the Supreme Court had offered solace to the Muslims who were wary of the Waqf Amendment Act. “I would like to state categorically that I will always fight for the rights of minorities and marginalized people. TVK will always stand with them,’’ he said.
