Vigilance: Vig finds Rs 6L, gold, multiple flats & plots of BDO in searches |


Bhubaneswar: The vigilance wing on Wednesday conducted raids at multiple locations in connection with an alleged case of disproportionate assets against the block development officer (BDO) of Athgarh, Pradeep Kumar Sahu. So far, vigilance has found Rs 6 lakh cash hidden in his house, 300 gm of gold and multiple flats, plots and houses.
The searches were conducted after a special vigilance court issued a search warrant.The search operation was conducted in Bhubaneswar and eight other locations.
The locations where the raids are being conducted are Shree Enclave and Gautam Nagar in Bhubaneswar, Bhaliabadi near old police station, Khurda, Rajsunakhala Sahi, Nayagarh, Pichukuli, Khurda, his official residence at Athgarh and the block office.
Vigilance officers said one residential building each at Khurda and Nayagarh, a flat in Bhubaneswar, three plots in Nayagarh, 0.54 decimal land at Khurda and two plots of land at Nayagarh were found in Sahu’s name. They said the measurement, assessment and valuation of plots and flats are being carried out. “Besides, immovable properties and gold, we have found 500 gm of silver, bank deposits, insurance policies, a car and four two-wheelers,” a vigilance officer said.
Since search is currently on, vigilance is yet to announce the total value of assets.

A Ludhiana court sentenced a man to three years in prison for impersonating a vigilance cell official and extorting money. Two co-accused were acquitted due to a lack of evidence. The main accused extorted money from a complainant under the threat of a fake vigilance case. Fines and additional jail terms were also imposed.
