Bhubaneswar: Odisha vigilance on Thursday arrested Purendra Kumar Sethy, a record supplier of Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Bhubaneswar, for alleged possession disproportionate assets (DA), including a four-storied building in the capital city and 16 land pattas (record of rights) ranging from 0.034 decimal to 0.11 decimal. But the RoRs are in different people’s names and vigilance sleuths are verifying those.
A case has been registered against Sethy.He was produced in the court of special judge, vigilance, Bhubaneswar, for possession of DA to the tune of 161 per cent of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily, said the official sources. During house searches, vigilance sleuths unearthed several movable and immovable assets in the name of Sethy and his family members. The four-storied building of 10,880 sg ft area is in Kanan Vihar here.
The team found bank and insurance deposits along with mutual fund investments of around Rs 16.77 lakh, Rs 1.7 lakh cash, two cars, and five two-wheelers. Household articles worth around Rs 5 lakh have been unearthed from Sethy’s house. Vigilance team conducted searches at his paternal house in Jagatsinghpur, his office, and his house in Bhubaneswar. Investigation is in progress, said an statement from the vigilance.

The 30 pontoon bridges at the Maha Kumbh will be monitored 24/7 by AI-enabled CCTV cameras, ensuring safety by tracking crowds and vehicle flow. This new surveillance system will send alerts to the Integrated Command and Control Centre if the bridges’ load capacity exceeds the limit, allowing officials to take prompt action.
