‘Very significant’: BJP’s CR Kesavan on PM Narendra Modi’s RSS headquarters visit in Nagpur | Chennai News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur for the first time since becoming India’s Prime Minister, where he paid floral tributes to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh.
The visit was accompanied by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other leaders.
Modi arrived in Nagpur around 9 am, where he was received by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other ministers of the Maharashtra cabinet at the airport.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had arrived at Smruti Mandir ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit.
BJP leader and spokesperson CR Kesavan commented on the significance of the Prime Minister’s visit to the RSS headquarters, noting it coincided with the organization’s centenary year.
“Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Smruti Mandir today is very significant because this is the centenary year of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh inception. He is the first ever Indian PM to pay homage at the Smruti Mandir. PM’s visit today is indeed a true testimony and tribute to how the RSS has selflessly sacrificed and contributed to nation building how the RSS has staunchly promoted patriotism and they have preserved India’s culture, tradition and ethos. For the BJP and RSS, the nation comes first and the nation unity is paramount,” Kesavan told ANI on Sunday.
During his visit to Nagpur, Prime Minister Modi also paid respects to Babasaheb Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi, the historic site where the architect of the Indian constitution converted to Buddhism along with thousands of his followers in 1956.
The visit marked several historic firsts, including Modi being the first Prime Minister to pay homage at the Smruti Mandir, occurring during the RSS’s centenary year celebrations.
