Valerian Santos, father who fought for justice in infamous Amboli and double kitchen murder, passes away | Mumbai News – The Times of India

MUMBAI: Valerian Santos, father of Keenan Santos, who was killed in the infamous Amboli Bar and Kitchen double murder in October 2011, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Wednesday. His last rites were held at Amboli Church beside his house on Thursday afternoon.

Keenan was fatally stabbed along with his friend Reuben Fernandes by a local gang of hoodlums.
Santos fought a prolonged battle to secure the conviction of the accused, despite receiving death threats urging him to back down.
Gleason Barretto of the East Indian association Mobai Gaothan Panchayat (MGP), who attended Santos’ funeral, said, “He was fearless.
Santos was brave enough to take on the system, as well as politicians and gangsters. I first connected with him in 2016 when we were planning to build a memorial in honor of the slain boys. He was more than happy. Together with MLA Ameet Satam, we built a bravery pillar near the site of the murder within six months. Santos and his wife inaugurated the memorial.”
Santos had two younger twin sons, one of whom became a lawyer following his elder brother’s killing.
