Utkal University PG student found dead in hostel room
A second-year PG student at Utkal University, Tapas Ranjan Nayak, was discovered dead in his hostel room. Authorities were notified, leading to the police investigating the matter as the cause of death remains unknown.

BHUBANESWAR: A second-year PG student of Utkal University was found dead inside his hostel on the campus here on Sunday. Police started an investigation into the matter. Cause of the death is yet to be ascertained.
After finding him dead, fellow hostel inmates immediately informed the hostel warden and other authorities. The local police station was informed about the matter later. Police reached the spot and recovered the body.
The body was kept at Capital Hospital for a post-mortem.
Parents of the philosophy department student, Tapas Ranjan Nayak, were informed by the university authorities. A local guardian of Tapas said, “He was a shy-natured boy. We never saw him sad or under pressure for something. I do not know why and how he died. I talked to him on March 28. He told me he would come home after the examination is over.”
A student of the Madhusudan Chhatrabas (Hostel-II) of the university said, “After finishing dinner, we had some engaging discussions on different issues. He was absolutely fine. We did not see any sign of sadness on his face.”
Family members are yet to file any complaint with the Saheed Nagar police station.
