Mumbai: Maharashtra cyber police have filed a criminal case against an individual user who allegedly modified and added content to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj‘s Wikipedia profile.
Previously, cyber police had communicated with Wikipedia, requesting it to remove disrespectful modifications to the profile, citing potential public order concerns in the state.
A police official said, “The user, Ratnahastin, has made some edits to the profile which are derogatory, following which an FIR has been registered against the user. We are trying to find out the person’s identity.” The official said they had sent notices to the US-based Wikipedia requesting removal of content on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had directed police intervention.tnn
