Urgent Action Against Illegal Ultrasound Centres in Patna | Patna News – Times of India

Crack down on illegal ultrasound centres: CS

Patna: Chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Tuesday asked the officials concerned to seal ultrasound centres involved in the illegal sex determination tests. He said regular offenders should be strictly punished. These directives were issued during a meeting with divisional commissioners and district magistrates, which was attended by the additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries of various departments, including backward and extremely backward, labour resources, minority, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe and social welfare.
In addition to addressing the issue of illegal sex determination, Meena issued instructions on several other schemes. He stressed the need for 100% availability of clean drinking water and toilets in all anganwadi centres, setting a two-month deadline for officials to achieve this goal.
Meena also asked the officials to dispose of applications under several schemes, including the National Family Benefit Scheme, Kabir Antyeshti Anudan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana and the Unique Disability Identity Card, to ensure that applicants could receive the benefits in a timely manner.
He took serious note of delays in approving compensation under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities Act), urging officials to expedite the process. Meena asked district magistrates and deputy development commissioners to inspect schools, particularly those catering to underprivileged students, to ensure that necessary facilities were available for students to compete in national-level competitions.
