Bhubaneswar: The state govt is likely to reconsider formation of new urban local bodies formerly announced by the previous BJD govt, housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra hinted.
The minister told the media that the process for new municipalities and NACs (Notified Areas Councils) will begin after the end of the legislative assembly session.He stated that the previous govt had announced NACs only with elections in mind. “There could be changes in this,” the minister asserted.
Mahapatra said that the new NACs were limited to just announcements. “So far, no documents have been received in the department in this regard. After discussions with the chief minister, steps will be taken,” he said.
He further stated that the BJP govt wants to reform those eligible to become NACs and municipalities. “Discussions will be held to investigate this formally and send officers,” the minister said. tnn
