Unite to save Kancha Gachibowli, KTR urges people

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday voiced concern over the Kancha Gachibowli land issue and extended his support to the movement launched by the students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH). In an open letter, the former minister urged the people of Telangana to unite to protect the land.
Demanding the govt to drop the idea of an eco-park in land parcels belonging to the university, the BRS leader asserted that the state government is intentionally misrepresenting the environmental movement by disseminating false narratives, including proposals to relocate the UoH.
He termed these actions as a “deliberate conspiracy” aimed at diverting the public attention and suppressing a legitimate grassroots movement. “Movements that arise from selflessness are destined to succeed. Activism led by the youth serves as a model for the entire nation. The Kancha Gachibowli forest land must be safeguarded. The BRS is committed to preserving this area, which boasts of rich flora and fauna,” he stated.
Stating that the state govt has covert plans to relocate the UoH to proposed Future City, he said Congress leaders are behaving more like real estate developers than public servants.
“For more than 50 years, the UoH campus represented environmental harmony and academic excellence, far surpassing the value of any artificial Eco Park. To dismantle it in the name of development is a betrayal of our future,” he added.
The BRS leader also referred to previous Supreme Court interventions that halted environmental violations, reminding citizens that while a significant phase of the struggle has achieved success, the larger fight is still ongoing. “Until then, this struggle will continue. Together, we will safeguard Kanche Gachibowli for future generations,” he said.
