Union Ministers Outline Vision for Paradip Port and Odisha Waterways Development | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, along with BJP MPs from Odisha, on Tuesday held a detailed discussion with Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, in New Delhi regarding the ongoing and future projects for development of ports and waterways in Odisha by the state and central govts.
While mentioning the ‘Purvodaya Mission’. Pradhan said, “There is a commitment from the double-engine govt to transform Paradip Port into a modern port as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the comprehensive development of Odisha.”
The meeting further discussed the rapid development of ports in Odisha. Additionally, there was extensive discussion on constructing a cruise terminal in Puri, exporting marine products in collaboration with the fisheries department and improving the livelihoods of fishermen.
Sonowal, during the meeting, said that the Paradip port has become the largest port in the country and mentioned discussions with Odisha MPs about the comprehensive development of the port as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and plans for the development of waterways between the Govt of India and the state govt.
The MPs and ministers also discussed skill development, reskilling and upskilling of youths working in the shipbuilding industry in Odisha.
