Union minister Jual Oram's wife dies of dengue

BHUBANESWAR: Jhingia Oram, wife of Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram, passed away at a private hospital here on Saturday night. She was 58. She was undergoing treatment after testing positive for dengue on Aug 10, the Union minister said.
“I tested positive for dengue in Delhi on Aug 11. Though my condition improved, the platelet count of my wife dropped.She could not recover even after platelet transfusion,” he added.
Chief minister Mohan Majhi visited the official residence of Oram in Bhubaneswar and paid respect to Jhingia. He was accompanied by cabinet ministers and other prominent BJP members.
“As a devout, soft-spoken, social worker and benevolent woman, she was adored by all. She played a pivotal role in the success of Jual Bhai’s illustrious political journey,” a statement from the chief minister’s office read.
Leader of the opposition Naveen Patnaik also condoled the death. “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of the wife of Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and my sincere condolences to the bereaved family,” he wrote on X.
The state BJP unit in an official statement said: “Jhingia Oram was renowned as a pious, altruistic and dedicated social worker. In Jual Oram’s political and personal life, the role of Jhingia was paramount.”
