Berhampur: Two workers were killed after the roof centering (a temporary structure that supports and shapes concrete during construction) of an under construction building at Karpura Nuagain under Ganjam district‘s Aska police limits on Monday. The deceased workers were identified as Niranjan Mohanty (38) of Bhetanai and Khadala Sethi (62) of Ganagapur, said police. They were rescued by onlookers from the debris and taken to the sub-divisional hospital, Aska, where the doctors declared them brought dead, said Santosh Kumar Jena, sub-divisional police officer, Aska.
Police said they were working to remove the centering of the roof of the under construction building of a private person. They remained trapped inside the debris for some time. Only two persons were inside the under-construction building when the mishap took place, said SDPO. People rushed into the house after hearing a loud sound. Police have started an inquiry about the mishap after a case was registered at Aska police station.
