BHUBANESWAR: Two employees died, and several others sustained injuries when a mechanical structure at Rungta Mines Ltd (Dhenkanal Steel Plant) in Jhadabandha, Dhenkanal district, Odisha, collapsed on Monday.
According to a police officer, the private steel company’s structure fell on the workers and resulting in the tragic incident.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the site to carry out rescue operations.
Dhenkanal SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat informed PTI via telephone, “As per the preliminary report, two workers died and a few others were injured in the incident. Police have reached the spot and an inquiry will be conducted into the incident.”
The deceased workers have not yet been identified. It is suspected that the workers are from other states, police sources said.
