Prayagraj: A criminal wanted in connection with the Atala restaurant bomb hurling incident was injured and arrested along with his aide by a joint team of Khuldabad special operations group (SOG) and Puramufti police near Lukerganj railway bridge road early Friday.The police also recovered two countrymade pistols of 0.315 bore, along with two live and three used cartridges of 0.315 bore, and a bike near the spot.The injured criminal, identified as Abdullah Ahmad (20) of Neem Saray Mundera Chungi was admitted to district hospital for treatment. Police also arrested his accomplice, Bhanu Pratap Singh (21) of Jhalwa, after a brief chase.Cops said Khuldabad police received a tip-off about the duo moving towards the Lukerganj area with the intention of committing a crime. Cops cordoned off the area and intercepted the criminals on a bike. As cops signalled them to stop, they opened fire on police, and an exchange of fire left one criminal injured.One Basar Ahmad of Khuldabad had on June 15 lodged an FIR with Khuldabad police against two unknown bike-borne miscreants accusing them of hurling a crude bomb outside his restaurant and escaping. Following the incident, an FIR was registered, and three police teams were formed to arrest the criminals.
