Patna: In a major development in the Boring Canal Road firing case, two more accused – Piyush Verma alias Shibu and Rohit alias Altar – surrendered before the Patna civil court on Friday. Two others, including a minor, had already been arrested earlier.The May 24 incident, captured on video, involved seven people. A case was registered at Sri Krishna Puri police station after the video went viral. Police have recovered two cars used in the crime, though the main SUV is yet to be found.City SP (central), Sweety Sahrawat, said, “Four accused have been arrested. The minor was sent to a remand home and the other to jail. The remaining two surrendered under police pressure. They will be taken on remand for questioning to ascertain how many weapons were used.”She added that none of the accused had previous criminal records. “Shibu is an engineering student in Rajasthan; Rohit is studying hotel management in Punjab. The engineering student fired from inside the vehicle while the other stepped out to create panic,” she said.The conflict began when an unnumbered black SUV hit a car. After a confrontation, Rohit left but returned with others. Shots were fired from the SUV on Lohia Path Chakra before fleeing the scene. Incidentally, ADG (law and order) Pankaj Darad was passing by and chased the SUV in his official vehicle while his bodyguard returned fire.Sachivalaya SDPO-2 Saket Kumar said, “One more accused, Shanu Kumar, is absconding. Raids are on to arrest him. We believe two or three others assisted the accused and efforts are on to identify them.”
