Two new additional SPs in CB-CID – The Times of India

Chennai: To strengthen the state’s crime investigation efforts, CM M K Stalin anounced the creation of two posts of additional superintendent of police (ADSP) in the crime branch-criminal investigation department (CB-CID).
The announcement was made during the debate on the home department’s demand for grants in the assembly on Tuesday.
The state govt allocated 63 lakh for the creation of these new positions.
The first ADSP will be tasked with supervising the metro wing of the CB-CID, which is currently staffed by two deputy superintendents of police and a team of inspectors. This role will not only involve overseeing the metro wing’s operations but will also include handling the administration of the CB-CID office.
Additionally, the new ADSP will act as a liaison between the CB-CID and national and international law enforcement agencies, including Interpol.
The second ADSP will be responsible for coordinating cases within the Greater Chennai city police limits, as well as overseeing the Tambaram and Avadi commissionerates.
