Buxar: Police on Sunday arrested two named accused and detained another in connection with the triple murder case at Ahiyapur that rocked the district on Saturday.According to Buxar SP Shubham Arya, two accused Om Prakash Singh and Karan Yadav were arrested from Ahiyapur village late Saturday night. Police have not disclosed the name of detained person. The violence reportedly stemmed from a dispute on Friday evening between two groups over dumping of sand near a canal at Ahiyapur village, under Rajpur police station limits.The situation escalated dramatically in the early hours of Saturday, around 5am, when a clash broke out between the two parties, involving assault and gunfire. Three people from one side were killed on the spot, while two others sustained critical injuries and were referred to Varanasi Trauma Centre for medical care.An FIR was registered at Rajpur police station based on a written complaint, naming 19 people, including Santosh Yadav, former vice chairman of the Buxar district board, and Manoj Singh, former mukhiya of Rasen panchayat—along with three unidentified others.Taking the incident seriously, the police formed a special team comprising divisional intelligence unit (DIU), Buxar and personnel from Rajpur police station, led by SDPO Buxar. The team launched intensive raids to apprehend those involved. During the crackdown, Om Prakash and Karan were arrested, and another suspect was taken into custody for questioning. Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining accused.Meanwhile, the SP has suspended Ritesh Pandey, the chowkidar of Ahiyapur village, for dereliction of duty. Officials said the initial altercation on Friday was not reported by Pandey to the station house officer, which may have contributed to the failure to prevent the subsequent violence. The SP cited negligence, indiscipline, and arbitrary behaviour as grounds for the suspension.
