Bengaluru: Two persons were arrested for pushing an unidentified person to death from a moving train following a fight over a trivial issue.
The arrested are Devappa, 45, a gardener, and Veerappa, 31, both from Sedam in Kalaburagi district. Railway police are yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
Police said the arrested duo and the victim were travelling on Yeshwantpur-Bidar Express on Feb 11. When the train was between Kodigehalli and Yelahanka, the deceased tried to sit in the gap between the door and the toilet where Devappa and Veerappa were already sitting.
The duo alleged he was almost sitting on one of them. They assaulted him and pushed him out of the train from the door. A passenger, identified as Kumar MG, witnessed the incident and alerted helpline 112.
Other passengers attacked Devappa and Veerappa, while Kumar pulled the chain to stop the train. It halted at Doddaballapur station and the duo got down and fled the spot. Cops, however, arrested them before they left the railway premises. The victim’s body was found on the tracks the next morning.
