Twin cities come alive with community & culture at Patha Utsav | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: More than 50 events were organised in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to mark this season’s first Patha Utsav on Sunday, which is being organised ahead of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held from Jan 8 to 10.
Apart from music and dance, yoga and storytelling sessions were organised. In the capital city, housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra inaugurated the event. In Cuttack, thousands thronged the stretch between Barabati Fort and the Museum of Justice road, which was transformed into a carnival of culture, colour and community spirit.
“As the govt is involved in hosting many national and international events, it is an opportune time to organise the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar. Patha Utsav adds flavour for residents by indirectly involving them in the PBD celebrations. Patha Utsav has also been a stimulating factor to release stress and enjoy a winter morning in an atmosphere where people get a feeling of ‘Aama sahara, aama rasta’ (our city, our road),” said city mayor Sulochana Das.
Events like ‘Kiddo Kingdom’, ‘Bhubaneswar Got Talent’, magic, child play unit, yoga, skating, Odia cuisine show, nukkad natak, rangoli on PBD theme, sanitation awareness, selfie zone, ghazal, Odissi and Sambalpuri dances were organised. Vocal performances by well-known singers delighted the audience , while the dance performances of two groups enthralled the audience.
In Cuttack, streets were abuzz with yoga sessions, cycling, taekwondo demonstration and live music, creating a lively atmosphere. Cuttack mayor Subhash Singh said, “Patha Utsav is not just an event; it is a celebration of Cuttack’s rich culture and heritage. We are thrilled to see such an overwhelming response from the public.”
A kite festival was also organised along the lower Bali Yatra ground on the banks of the Mahanadi river.
