TVK won’t tie up with AIADMK-BJP: Aadhav | Chennai News – Times of India

Chennai: Amidst speculation in certain quarters, TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna on Tuesday asserted that the party will not join the AIADMK-BJP alliance because DMK and BJP remain their political and ideological opponents.A week ago, TVK deputy general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar firmly dismissed any possibility of the party aligning with BJP, and declared it with “100% certainty”. Arjuna backed this statement, clarifying that TVK functionaries were simply expressing their views discussed with the leadership and decisions made at meetings. Arjuna emphasised the consistency of the leadership’s position. “Our leader expressed his mind firmly during the first rally in Villupuram that DMK and BJP are political and ideological opponents respectively. He is firm and clear in his decision even today. We have issued a statement against AIADMK’s alliance with the BJP,” Arjuna told TOI.Asked about the possibility of TVK joining hands with AIADMK if it were to break away from the BJP alliance, Arjuna declined to speculate. “I don’t want to comment on hypothetical questions,” he said. Accusing the DMK of engaging in “false propaganda” by suggesting that TVK would ultimately join the AIADMK-BJP alliance, Arjuna said the TVK leadership will make the final decision regarding alliances and election strategy as the elections approach.”The leadership will consider public sentiment regarding potential alliances before making a final decision,” he said.“It is too early to talk about an alliance. We are a primary force,” the TVK leader noted.Arjuna’s comments followed a recent statement by BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan, who said Vijay had not spoken about an alliance with BJP yet. Arjuna criticised AIADMK’s performance in recent years, arguing that the public “punished” the AIADMK, pointing to the electoral setbacks in recent years. He said focusing on the opposition party was unproductive.“Spending time talking about the opposition party is unnecessary. The failures of the govt, and its false promises should be spoken about,” he said, arguing that DMK’s victories were due to the AIADMK’s alliance with the BJP and dalits have suffered more under the DMK regime.
