Transformative MoU Signed for Moin-ul-Haq Stadium Revamp in Patna | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: State sports department and Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the transfer of Moin-ul-Haq stadium to the latter on a long-term lease to facilitate its reconstruction. Under the agreement, world-class infrastructure would be provided to the stadium by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) so that national and international level cricket matches could be organised in it.
A function in this regard was held on the premises of Moin-ul-Haq stadium located at Rajendra Nagar here. The MoU was signed by state sports director Mahendra Kumar and BCA president Rakesh Kumar Tiwary.
The MoU was signed in the presence of deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, sports minister Surendra Mehta and sports department principal secretary B Rajender, as well as other sports department officials and senior BCA functionaries, including its secretary.
The stadium spread over 31 acres of land with a seating capacity for 25,000 spectators has been handed over to the BCA on 30-year lease. The lease has been given on Re 1, and for the first seven years the profits would be shared with the BCCI. “For the remaining 23 years, the profits would be shared by the state sports department and the BCCI on a 50:50 basis,” deputy CM Choudhary said.
“The BCCI will make all the investment on the reconstruction. The new stadium will have five-star hotel and other facilities as specified in the lease agreement. The BCCI will look after the stadium and take the decision on all the sports-related matters,” he added.
Constructed in 1969, the Moin-ul-Haq stadium witnessed some national cricketing events. “After the reconstruction of the stadium, there will be complete transformation. Both national and international level cricket matches will be organised there,” he said.
