Tragic Suicide of 14-Year-Old Linked to Bullying by Classmates | Bhubaneswar News
Rourkela: Two days after a 14-year-old girl died by suicide at her home in Bondamunda area of Sundargarh district, the father of the deceased and 50 others visited her school on Saturday and alleged that three boys in her class made derogatory comments about her, which led her to take her own life.
The Class VIII student was found hanging in her room on Thursday. She had earlier gone to school, and after returning home, she had closed the room of her door. She was rushed to Rourkela Govt Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The girl has two younger sisters while her father is a labourer.
On Friday, the father of the deceased lodged an FIR about his daughter’s suicide. Bondamunda police registered an unnatural death case, conducted a post-mortem, and handed over her body to her father.
Bondamunda police station inspector in-charge Chitta Ranjan Naik and other police officers visited the school and soke to the people, including the father of the deceased, on Saturday. They demanded strong action against the three students. Police assured them that further action would be taken once a written complaint against the boys was received.
“We told the father of the deceased girl and the others with him that if a written complaint against the three boys of her class is received by the police, we will definitely take further necessary action,” said the IIC. “We are enquiring into her death,” he added.
