Tragic Shooting: Mother and Son Killed in Muzaffarpur Land Dispute | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: A mother-son duo was shot dead by their relatives and neighbour over a land dispute in Muzaffarpur district late Wednesday evening. They were rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared them dead. The incident occurred at Patahi Hari village under the Sadar Police station area. Upon getting information about the incident, Muzaffarpur City SP Vikram Sihag, along with the police force, reached the crime spot and began an investigation.
Muzaffarpur City SP, Vikram Sihag, said the deceased were identified as Rohit Kumar (23) and his mother Janki Devi (45), wife of Madan Sahu. They were residents of Patahi Hari village. The accused were identified as Amar Sahu and Binod Sahu. The forensic team visited the crime spot and collected samples from there, he said.
“Five empty bullet shells were recovered from the spot. There was an ongoing land dispute between both families for a long time. There was a well between both houses. Both families claimed possession over the water of the well. They quarrelled two or three days ago over the matter. A quarrel also occurred in the morning on Wednesday, which escalated in the evening, leading to the firing,” Sihag said.
The city SP added that the preliminary inquiry from the local villagers revealed that Amar fired on the mother-son duo. Binod provoked Amar to fire. Both fled the village after the incident. “Raids are being carried out to nab them,” he added.
