Tragic Shooting at Bhojpur ‘Shradh Karma’ Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Boy | Patna News – Times of India
Ara: In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old boy Ritik, son of one Shiv Prasanna Yadav, native of Bhakura village under Mufassil police station in Bhojpur district, was shot dead while he was serving food in a ‘shradh karma‘ late on Tuesday night.
The boy, a class 8 student, sustained a bullet injury in his stomach. He was rushed to a private hospital at Ara, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
Sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar, SHO Mufassil police station Rajiv Ranjan Sinha and other police personnel rushed to the private hospital and inquired about the incident from the family members of the deceased.
Talking to this newspaper on Wednesday morning, Mufassil police station SHO said, “As per our initial investigation, the matter seems to be suspicious, as the family members are tight-lipped about the whole incident. Till Wednesday morning, they have not lodged an FIR. Prima facie it seems to be a case of an accidental firing. Some members or relatives from the host side might have fired accidentally that hit the boy. Very soon we will nab the culprit.”
The SHO said the police got postmortem of the body done at the Sadar Hospital, Ara.
Giving details of the incident, mother of Ritik, Shivmuni Devi told mediapersons, “Ritik had gone to Alipur village to attend the ‘shradh karma’ of mother-in-law of his maternal aunt (mausi). While he was serving food to the guests a bullet hit him.”
