CHENNAI: Four members of a family – a doctor, his wife, and two sons – were found dead by hanging from the ceiling at their house in Anna Nagar West on Thursday morning.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the doctor, who was running a scan business in Anna Nagar, incurred a huge loss, which could have driven them to end their lives. The deceased were identified as Dr Balamurugan, his wife Sumathi, and sons Dasvanth, 17, and Lingesh, 15. Police said Sumathi was practising law in the city court, while Dasvanth was writing his Class XII examination and Lingesh was studying in Class X.
On Thursday morning, their car driver visited their house. As there was no response from them, he informed the neighbours, and they peeped through the window only to see them dead by hanging. Balamurugan and Sumathi were found hanging in one room, while their sons were found dead in another room.
Upon receiving the information, the city police rushed to the spot and recovered the corpses, which were later sent to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital for an autopsy. The cops registered a case.
