Bhagalpur: A 42-year-old woman was found hanging at her house in Parraha village under Baath police station of the district in the early hours of Friday, with the police prima facie suspecting it to be a death by suicide. Her body was recovered by the family members after they woke up.
Deceased Renu Devi’s husband Kamlesh Bind (45), in his statement to police, said that she was having headache the night before and had gone to sleep after getting an oil massage from him (husband) after dinner. In the early hours, when he could not find her in their room, he went to search for her and found her hanging from the ceiling in another room, Bind told the police. Subsequently he informed the Baath police, added the bereaved husband.
Baath station house officer (SHO) Kanhaiya Jha said that an investigation was started into the incident. “Prima facie it appears to be a case of death by suicide,” said the SHO, adding as there is no suicide note, they were investigating with an open mind.
“The family members are also being cross examined. But none from her maternal or in-laws’ home have levelled any allegations,” he said, adding the body has been seized and sent for postmortem to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital after preliminary investigation.
The deceased is also survived by two sons and a daughter.
