Tragic Bus Accident Claims Driver’s Life, Leaves 30 Injured in Nayagarh | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Driver of a passenger bus was killed, and 30 people travelling in it injured after it overturned near Nuagaon in Nayagarh district on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Birendra Sahani, 29.
The bus, with 30 passengers, was coming from Raikia in Kandhamal district to Bhubaneswar via Nagagarh district when it hit the road divider. All the injured passengers were taken to Dasapalla community health centre, and from there, eight severely injured persons were shifted to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital.
“Passengers were taken out of the bus with the help of locals, police, and fire personnel. Traffic on the route was disrupted for half an hour. The bus was removed from the road using a crane. The driver’s body was sent for post-mortem. Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the accident,” said a police officer.
The front portion of the bus was completely damaged. “The driver was speeding, and the passengers and I were warning him, but he didn’t listen to us,” said cleaner of the bus Silu Nayak.
