Rourkela: A high-ranking official of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually harassing and stalking a woman advocate, police said.
The 52-year-old accused was arrested following a complaint filed by a 42-year-old woman lawyer on Nov 30. The accused was later released on bail by a local court.
Inspector Pratibha Sahoo said, “Based on the FIR of the complainant, we arrested him on the charges of stalking, molestation and sexual harassment.”
The complainant alleged that the accused, a widower with two children, had been stalking and sexually harassing her since they first met in 2019. His wife died in 2017.
Police officers said they questioned the official on Dec 2 before arresting him. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC.
