Keonjhar: An 18-month-old boy allegedly drowned in a bucket of water at Silida village in Keonjhar district’s Turumunga area on Monday. The deceased, identified as Abhijit Behera, was the son of Jiten Behera.
Family members found the toddler unconscious and rushed him to Patna community health centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Initially, the family members attempted to avoid a post-mortem by taking the child’s body home without filing a police complaint. However, following an alert from medical authorities, Turumunga police intervened.
“We have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death,” said Dharmendra Kumar Santi, inspector in-charge of Turumunga police station.
