BENGALURU: On the lines of guided tours of Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament building in New Delhi, Karnataka govt has decided to open the gates of Vidhana Soudha for similar tours for both domestic and overseas visitors to boost tourism in Bengaluru.
Facilitated by the tourism department, these tours will be permitted only on public holidays from 8am to 6pm with a nominal gate fee.

With thousands clicking pictures of the edifice by standing on the busy Ambedkar Veedhi, the tourism department proposed a ‘guided tour’ concept at Soudha. It argued this would help citizens understand the history, heritage, and importance of the structure.

Deliberating on the proposal, the govt, which recently installed a permanent lighting system at Soudha, agreed that the move would help in attracting tourists to the city and gave conditional approval.
As per the order by the department of personnel and administrative reforms, a designated officer will take a team of 30 visitors around Soudha with explanations. The govt directed the tourism department to ensure a nominal gate fee and create an online platform to book tickets. Visitors must adhere to the security protocol and submit their identity cards.
