Tiger Terror: Chikiti Panic After Four Goats Killed | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: Panic gripped Ganjam district’s Chikiti area after a suspected Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) killed four goats in Panada village under Digapahandi forest range on Tuesday night.
Forest officials recovered the carcasses on Wednesday and conducted autopsies with the help of local veterinary doctors. The predator reportedly killed the goats and partially consumed them before retreating into the forest. “The goats were grazing when they went missing. During our search, we found their carcasses near the village,” said Juria Pradhan, one of the affected goat owners.
Villagers believe this could be the same Royal Bengal Tiger that killed cattle in the district last year before moving to Gajapati. Local residents reported spotting the tiger near Palur hill close to Glanthara on NH-16 a day before the incident. Divisional forest officer (Berhampur) Sunny Khokkar told reporters that forest officials have collected pug marks from the site for a detailed analysis. “Camera traps will be installed in the area to identify the exact animal responsible for the kills,” he said.
Forest department has intensified patrolling and launched awareness campaigns warning villagers against venturing alone into the forest. “Compensation will be provided to the owners of the killed goats,” the DFO added. The incident has affected four villagers who lost one goat each in the suspected tiger attack. Forest officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
