Thug wanted in 7 cases arrested in Pratapgarh | Prayagraj News
Prayagraj: Pratapgarh police on Saturday arrested a 42-year-old notorious thug from Rampur Gaori for allegedly cheating a trader of Rs 80,000. The incident occurred on May 19, when the accused, Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, offered the victim a lift on his bike from Pratapgarh junction to Mandhata, but instead, duped him of the money.During the ride, the accused placed the victim’s bag containing cash and valuables on the bike’s fuel tank. He then stopped at a roadside grocery shop, asking the victim to buy paan-gutka for him. Seizing the opportunity, the accused fled the scene before the victim could react. An FIR was registered under sections 303(2) and 317(2) of the BNS at Kotwali Dehat police station.Police said that as many as seven criminal cases, including theft, cheating, arms act, and attempt to murder, were pending against Tiwari in different police stations of Pratapgarh. The arrest was made near Teunga while he was planning to escape to Mumbai. Police have also recovered Rs 80,000 from his hideouts.
