Thane: Three people were severely burnt in an LPG gas cylinder blast in a house in the Mohane area near Kalyan. The injured are identified as Anita Jadhav (38), Mahima Jadhav (12), and Vijay Tandel (48). All three suffered 40% burns.
All three were first rushed to Rukminibai Hospital in Kalyan, from where doctors referred them to Sion Hospital in Mumbai for further treatment.
The explosion caused extensive damage to the house, and the door and window of the house were broken.
The incident took place on Tuesday at Mahatma Phule Nagar in Mohane. According to officials the neighbour, Tandel, had come to help the family fix the gas leakage. When he fit the pipe and lit the gas the explosion occurred as a lot of gas had already leaked from the cylinder. Chief Fire Officer of the Kalyan Dombivli Fire Department, Namdev Chaudhary, said that a preliminary probe shows that the incident was caused due to gas cylinder leakage.
